Koru Spiral

The symbol of the koru, often found in Maori art, is based on the unrolling fern frond and thus symbolises the emergence of new life. However, the circular shape also stands for perpetual movement, and the inward spiral shape, in this view, can be seen as going to the origin.

This painting also served as a template for my own tattoo.
